BlockedOk, could the WTA get involved with proposals to Manufacturers on behalf of retailers regarding ‘Shells’?
The reason I ask is… I’m STILL in the process of deciding what to display in my new ‘Shop floor’! I have at present 26 appliances on display so far (As I’m buying a few at a time before ‘Launching’ properly the retail side) and room for double that again at least. It’s very expensive to stock and takes a while without getting loans etc!
I’m being called from everyone asking to open an account to become a dealer, the latest is Bosch. Now, my thinking is…
If Manufacturers like Bosch would sell retailers a ‘Shell’ for display, they could get their WHOLE range into a store for probably the same cost as one or two machines! That benefits the Manufacturer & retailer…?
Apologies if this is old ground, but I’m just popping my head outa the Retail trench and seeing what the ground ahead is like!!!
Thoughts?
Ade 🙂

I wonder if it would cost them too much to pull a machine of a produstion line .

My thoughts came from going house hunting on the weekend. Every show house I went into, had an empty shell of a Plasma TV…
Mixed with the issues of stocking a shop with display stuff, I thought I’d see if it were a possible path to begin walking down…

The problem is that…
For most smaller brands it’s not really economically viable to produce the small numbers required. Then there’s the fact that you can flog off the display stock once it’s time has been served.
So, pros and cons.
However, you have to think like a retailer…
Ask if there are any deals going for display stock.
Ask if there is point of sale materials available and, what, to help you promote one brand over another.
Ask for extended credit terms on display stock.
Etc. 😉
