had a call from a customer
took off front and removed a bra wire
told customer the call was chargable as shouldnt put bra in machine
she then went and got the summer dress with a wire missing
and showed me the wash label in it
    so my question is
would it be covered by the warranty
as it is a machine washable item

Yes. Please put that on the job sheet and mark for my attention. 😉

the worst part is the husband has paid me
he felt she should know not to wash it
should i put it through and then give them there money back once the warranty claim gets paid
or leave it as a chargable job

TBH, it’s one of “those” calls where it’s a tough call.

By the letter of the law bras and suchlike should be in a bag for those sorts of items, same with small items like socks and even some underwear if you read the small print on the labels. Trouble is, nobody ever reads the labels!!!

If you want to offer them a half fee, again fine. Or if you’re happy with it as is and don’t want the hassle of sorting invoices and all that, again fine. The only problem I have with calls like this and, accepting them, is that the punters expect it all the time if you do it once and, if they kick off later, they can claim a fault when there wasn’t one.

TBH it’s a bl00dy nightmare thing to deal with for all concerned.

    best leave as is then
they love the machine apart from the wire so the hubby was happy to pay
as you say i could do without the hassle of claiming for no more money
