    Hi folks

Went to this yesterday cust complaining of “straining” to get into high spin?

Went and checked it and couldnt find anything wrong loaded or unloaded apart from main bearing was starting to sound dry and a bit rough altho no perticular play in it. But usual problem with Bosch that I could only get it to do a “reduced” spin on spin or rinse/spin prog.

Just no of questions realy as this was the first type of Bosch m/c i have seen that looked like it was a brushless motor.

    1) Is there anyway on Bosch m/c’s to get it to do the high speed other than wait for it to go thru a complete prog?

    2) As this looked like a brushless motor is this a 3 phase induction motor?

    3) There looked like an extra (large) pcb fitted bottom front right (looking from the back) – would this be the mtor control (3phase) unit ?

    4) There looked like a small box on the bottom rear of the m/c – what is this to do with?

    5) If cust descides to have bearing changed looks like a rear drum half – tub out job – is this straight forward (looks like i might be able to take all the facia and facia fixing plate off so the drum asy come out thru the front of m/c rather than thru the top – Am I right in thinging this as never done a bearing change on these Bosch plastic tubs before?

    6) Suspect the problem likes with the noisy bearing but just wondered if it might be any thing else stopping the m/c getting or “straining” to get up to full speed – covered the obvious “out of balanced load” with cust.

    7) Any pit falls I sould know about with a tub half/bearing change on one of these.

Many thanks in advance to all you Bosch experts out there who might enlighten me a bit 🙂

    Mich

Yep, done quite a few over the years. Its straight foward to do. Lift the whole tank out of the outer case through the front. You need to remove the front panel & fascia to do this. You need to split the tank & remove the drum. The bearings come as a complete part in the rear half of the tank (unless you can get them out of the casting & source them elsewhere). You also need the fixing kit to re-assemble the tank once you have split it which contains a new tank seal (large “o” ring seal) & the necessary screws to fix the tank back together. The parts are expensive though. We normally use two engineers to lift the tank assy out complete with weights & motor attached & it usually takes us about 1 hour to do. If you are on your own, I would remove the motor & weights before trying to lift the whole tank out, so it will take you longer to do, probably a good couple of hours.

Bit of a risk to change the bearing without being sure that’s what’s causing trouble. Did you remove belt and try spinning drum by hand to get a feel for the resistance the bearings were offering? Ditto motor bearings.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Did explain couldnt be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure that drum bearings were the cause of any spin problems (altho they would become a problem pretty soon if they weren’t, listening to them).

Due to the risk and the expense of a rear half change cust going for new m/c when bearings finaly sieze 😯 .

Is there anyway to test Bosh machines on full spin other than a complete wash program? Seems a bit crazy to me to reduce the spin speed on a spin only or rinse and spin program. Makes it a bit difficult for us guys to test fully for spin probs.

    Thanks

You can get the shaft seal for £8.03 direct from Bosch 613084.
You can get bearings any size you like (should they be something odd) from http://www.simplybearings.co.uk
Get the seal first and you’ll have a good clue what size the big one will be .

    Yes! 😀

But you need to select the ‘test programme’ in order to functional test all components. From memory setting that up requires holding in 2 buttons, press a 3rd then scroll thru pressing the start button and the various tests are numbered P:1 to P:18 (I think?) to get to the spin test (P:4 maybe?)

I’ve think I’ve got a proper manual on it somewhere. 😕 :rolls:
