Hi y’all… I still have this dryer, think its a CL 411 W and its worked very hard for me nigh on 19 years, with little in the way of sustenance (parts!) it has earned its spurs for sure. Thing is, now it turns the drum ok, and the heater heats, there seems to be little or no hot air exhaust from the vent, so clothes just get a sweaty sauna. So, to the fan- is it a seperate motor or driven from the main drum motor? Can’t remember how its setup, been a while since I was last inside (2007). I see fan impellers are available, do they eventually crack up (know THAT feeling) and leave the shaft turning uselessly, but if a seperate motor, are they available and wheres the best price on these ? Ditto drum front bearings (plastic clip on ones). Ta for helping me keep an old soldier in gainful employ! Dave

Fans do break up but you usually get a hell of a racket if they’re not on the end of the shaft. Fairly easy to find out, lower back off and remove fan cover rivett then turn and you’re into the fan housing. Plug out first please. Otherwise you have a blockage.

Cheers for that,, it was a little noisy, but now quietened down somewhat, so I shall wade into the beast this weekend and see. I have had this apart down to the bare shell before, just can’t remember if it has a seperate fan motor, as it was 2007 when I last delved deep. I can imagine a fan would eventually stress crack and fall apart, as long as parts are available, I’ll be happy to keep this old soldier. Ta for advice!

Fixed. New fan fitted as old one had broken. Long may it tumble.
