Everything that comes out of my dishwasher has got thick white film especially the stainless steel pans. It started when I topped up with rinse aid but I’ve turned it to minimum setting and it’s still the same. Is it the dispenser regulator or just the seal or something else that my cause this? I don’t want to call out my engineer if it’s just the rubber seal.
I need new wheels anyway, so if its an easy part replacement I can order the lot in one go.
    Many thanks

The film could be one of many things but rinse-aid it almost certainly isn’t!

Firstly what brand of rinse-aid are you using?

Secondly what setting have you got the dispenser set to? (it is adjustable using the ‘dial’ just under the rinse-aid compartment lid and should be set at about one third up the scale)

Are you putting salt in the softener reservoir and how long does this last?

Try tasting the film (wipe a little onto your finger tip to taste) and let us know if it’s salty, chalky or soapy?

Sorry I haven’t responded sooner – my account wouldn’t let me into forums so I had to re-register as a new user.

The rinse aid I am using is Tesco Citrus, the setting was on the lowest setting, the film is chalky, doesn’t taste salty or soapy. I’ve added more salt and turned the rinse aid setting up and ran a dishwasher cleaner cycle whilst empty and the dishwasher is clean with no smears. I’ll try a full wash this evening and will report back if I still have the problem.

    Thanks for your help

I opened the dishwasher this morning and glassware and cutlery and pans still have thick white film. The dishwasher has a strong detergent smell and I suppose the film could taste a little bit soapy.

I’m using Fairy Platignum and always used the hot wash setting 1 until recently but now use setting 2 for eco reasons which is a cooler wash.

It sounds to me like a rinse-aid problem, try turning the rinse-aid setting right down to minimum.

How often do you put salt in and what quantity?
