ParticipantJust to give everyone the heads up here I have myself dealt with Paypal for six years more or less without problem. However there are security issues currently in that someone I know has just had close on a grand taken directly from their bank account by Paypal which is a result of a number of people breaching Paypals online systems resulting in Fraud of this persons finances.
Before we go any further there is 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} no way that there account details have been revealed by them and there have been other examples of this type of Fraud. I have closed my Paypal account as the risks exist and there are other methods to conduct far more secure payments on the web if you need to do that. Paypal have the means to empty your bank accounts once your account is verified so the risks will be obvious !
BEWARE !

Ah, I’ve never jumped though the hoops to get my account verified, sounds like it’s just as well I didn’t!

PayPal is to a large extent exempt from someone doing just that. They go to great lengths in pointing out that they are “only the processor” and therefore the responsibility in preventing fraudulent transactions lies firmly on the sellers shoulders and not them.
Read THIS document which sets out clearly their stall in the marketplace that is the Internet.

Actually Martin the sub sections that you have put forward apply and are for Business, this was a private domestic customer and none of what is in that document applies to individuals. The facts are that Paypal advertise loudly about 3D security and how their online system is secure.
The fact is it is far from safe, clever fraudsters gain access to account holders details and have done so not from the account holders but by other means. There was another case recently I read where a number of Paypal employees were involved in a scam where they were defrauding customers accounts and Paypal would not even issue a comment.
Paypal is not secure and anyone who is using it needs to check their accounts daily. This persons Bank would not investigate the fraud as they say Paypal have their own security unit. Anyone who has dealt with Paypal via phone will know that it far from easy due to the fact that many if not all of their employees and offices are not UK based and in can be a real PITA to even understand them, its also of interest to note that the Paypal staff involved in the multiple inside scam were also of foreign origins.
What I wonder is the common link in all of this ?? MmmBe Careful folks

wouldnt touch pay pal with the proverbial. I know of several people who have had prodlems and been left out of pocket. it was their ” we cant be wrong” attitude that caused as much distress as the loss of money
