    NEFF CIRCOTHERM 1056

    Various numbers in oven:
    GB1056 71HCS
    195.302011 6409

    Small oven works OK
Circotherm starts to heat OK and fan runs. But after a couple of minutes the electricity supply trips on RCD fault (indicating an earthing problem). Is this an early indication of a Heating Element failure? If so, what part do I need? If not, what other part do I need.

    Moved to correct forum.

The first thing to do is to test the element with a megger or suitable multimeter before ordering anything.

Isolated from the mains at all times of course. 😉

I don’t have a Megger but checked with Circotherm Oven in ON position and it shows about 25 Mohms.
I have taken back-plate off Oven to visually inspect Heating Element. It has no obvious damage (although it is 23 years old!)
Then I tried Circotherm Oven ON again with the door open. The Element glows pretty uniformly (slightly redder over about 3cms on both coils at the top). Ran for about 3 minutes OK. I then closed the door and the RCD tripped after a further 2 minutes (MCB for Oven did not trip so obviously earth fault)

Perhaps Heating element only breaking down to earth after getting up to maximum temperature?

PS The above fault has only occurred since having my house Fuseboard replaced by a new CONSUMER UNIT with MCBs/RCDs. (ie. The Circotherm Oven has never been operated via RCD before)

At that age it is a very strong possibility that the element is breaking down under load as you suggest.

Fitted Heating Element (NF1413) ordered from ukwhitegoods.

SUCCESS ……………….. working as normal again.

Two points to note, for anyone with the same Oven/Problem ………………

The whole Oven has to be taken out to fit the Element on this model!
The Element may visually look entirely intact (as mine did) but sill breakbown to earth at high temperature.

    Hope this helps.
