ParticipantGot a tricky one today 😆
Ariston Integrated Dishwasher, door catch/release mechanism broken, can’t open door, can’t even move the machine forward ‘cos its screwed into worktop. Can’t open door to even establish what friggin model it is without causing loads of damage either to the worktop or the machine itself 😕
Not into smashing down doors with crowbars and stuff so I went away in the hope one of you guys had the ‘secret key’ to opening it 😉 😉 . OR DO I GO BACK THERE WITH A CROWBAR NEXT TIME ❓ ❓

Hi Martin,
I’ve had this a few times now with arsiton and indesit intergrated d/w’s. Theres no real easy way to get into these machines once the handles broken. Like you say the machines are always screwed in, so you cant release the latch from the top, like a freestanding one.
Most of the time i’ve managed to actually cut the handle away with a pair of wire cutters until i can see up into the mechanism then use a bit of stiff wire to pull the mech down and release. I’ve only been to one machine that i couldnt get this to work on and i had to say to the customer that the facia would have to be broken to get into it.
Another great design from indeshit.
Hope this helps

done lots, (Assuming you mean a semi intergrated that is)stick a slotted screwdriver up under the handle, twist and wiggle (the screwdriver I mean!) and shake the door, it will open with no damage other than the lock which was already broken in the first place.
This is also a common Smeg/Diplomat problem on the fully intergrated which need shaking and pulling to release.June 22, 2004 at 7:53 pm #113044Martin

My thanks to Grooster and Eastlmark for giving me guidance over this one. In fact I had to cut the handle away to access the plastic latch mechanism thus avoiding damage to fascia.
Once released I then could find the model no. (KLS61SUK) and order the Door Latch Assy (which includes the handle I broke!)
Thanks again guys!
