ParticipantCan anyone shed light on if this is definitely a board fault or is there something that I am missing.
I got called out to this machine because they thought it wasn’t draining, I put it into service mode and found that it will fill and empty quite happily but the main wash motor wasn’t running, having metered the motor and its start capacitor I found that the motors main winding had gone OC but there was nothing wrong with the capacitor (it was almost spot on its specified value). I went back this morning and replaced the motor, it will now fill, empty and wash quite happily in service mode and the functional testing cycle however if I put it in consumer mode and try a normal wash it will pump out then stop, it does not even attempt to fill (valve coil is not energised).
Does anyone know of any reason other than board as to why it will work perfectly in service mode and then fail in consumer mode?
Thank you
Jem :hmm:

(Intermittent?) blocked drainage. Pressure switch not re-setting to empty?

Don’t you have to cancel the ‘previous alarm code’ in service mode before it will operate in user mode? 😕

ParticipantExamine the main control board. Check particularly the surface faces off the chips / transistors – these seem to blow on these machines.

Should have mentioned that I have metered both pressure switches on and off of the machine and they appear to be working fine and that I have cancelled all error codes – will examine the board when I go back later today. I will also recheck all the bits that you have mentioned just to make absolutey sure.
Cheers for the thoughts guys – please keep them coming.

Ok – I have now cracked it – it turns out that it was lack of rinse aid that was allowing it to start the cycle but never fill.

That’s what myself and the customer thought – she has regularly run it for long periods without rinse aid and it hasn’t done that before and it was the only thing that I changed in between tries – had to test it 3 times to be sure. :conf:

you sure you didnt get the heater wet….low insulation heaters will stop the fill ……. rinse aid????, wouldnt effect the filling!

I am certain – I had had to leave it to the next day after fitting the motor to go back to it. Between my visits the customer had tried the machine several times and I tried the machine as soon as I got there on the second day, I decided to start by having a close look at the board first so didn’t even have to tip the machine, I put the board back and tested it to find no change at which point I decided that as the rinse aid light was on and having the front of the door off I decided to fill the rinse aid compartment till the float lifted so as to give the machine optimum conditions, then tried it and to my shock found that it promptly worked.
