    Hi-
I need to replace the heat insulation that surrounds the oven liner (small oven of a built-in double oven) as it has had oil spilled on it and smokes badly when the oven is heated up.
I can get the old insulation out (I think) but where can I get either an exact or generic replacement?
It is a white fibre sandwiched betweed two sheets of silver foil, about 1″ thick uncompressed. Looks like I need around 16″x60″
    Oven is a Smeg 9000
    Suggestions gratefully received!

    Hi Joe,

You need to check the model number on the rating plate and give us the full model but the part is available, roughly £15 for the lower oven insulation.

And you show as being logged in BTW. 😉

    Re: Oven Insulation

That’s good news, I’ll get the model no. later.
In fact I had some dialogue with SMEG who were very helpful about the part (quoted a bit more than £15 BTW) but were very cautious about me replacing it. They said none of their engineers would risk it as there was too much chance of damaging the wiring.
I’m surprised by that – does it sound right?

Incidentally I can log in , but this forum will then not display. I can only post / view it by logging out.

Joe, that may only be one section of it to be fair, but it appeared to show one section for the oven body and one for the rear which I didn’t price. Whether that is one side, top or bottom I’m not sure and I’ll need the correct full model to confirm it totally.

I think Smeg’s concern is that to replace the insulation is a stripdown and you will most likely have to disconnect a lot to get to it as it doesn’t look as if it will just slide out and a new one slide in. That would be too easy! 😉

Never having had to do that job I can’t say for sure though as it’s very rare to replace the insulation on a cooker. Which no doubt means that it will be a factory order from Italy, so don’t expect it to appear quickly.

Did you try changing UKW to a “trusted site” in your browser as that has been known to cause an issue with some ISP’s, notably AOL.
