Hi, I’ve got the spare part from you to replace the push switch on/off – but can’t work out which bits have to come off first! Would really appreciate a bit of help as I’m trying to do it for my dad, and I know iot’s going to be fiddly, but we are a bit strapped for cash and hope we can fix it. Thanks a bunch from Brighton

Have done that – next step is a puzzle , bit like one of those chinese puzzles – simple when you know what to do next!

Have you got the fascia panel off without breaking the fixings…..? Those lugs and latches I mentioned and stuff like that! 🙂

It’s been a bad day!
Not wanting to break anything, I decided that it was best to get an engineer, so contacted a local who had also been highly recommended. He arrived on time, took one look at the part and said it was the wrong one! He phoned his supplier who confirmed that it was for a condensing dryer, and the Bosch WTA 3000 is vented. So he has ordered the part and hopes it will arrive next week.Re: Bosch WTA 3000 dryer front panel removal

The photocopy that came with it was really unclear and almost impossible to read. And it is headed ‘Instruction Dryer Condenser’ and of course the WTA 3000 is vented.
I’m now in a sticky situation as the engineer will want paying for 2 visits plus his part which will be over £100 and as he said to me the machine is 2001, gets well used, and could be on the way out.
Advice would be most welcome. PLEASE 😥

Having checked the part – I’m assured it is the right one I got from you, which suggests that the chap who came to fix it didn’t have any experience with this part/appliance.
So maybe I should contact him to cancel him ordering the part, which he can’t do until Tuesday, it being the Bank Holiday – I know I shouldn’t have started this saga on a BH w/e!
Please if anyone does have any knowledge of changing an on/off push switch. I will be so very grateful.

The switch would not stay on, it had been getting less reliable over the last few weeks, and then finally wouldn’t stay in for the ‘on’ position.
I don’t know exactly what has been done so far as I’m now back home in Banbury, but the machine has been left unworkable.

Firstly I am 99.9{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain you have the correct switch. It comes as a kit, is fiddly to fit as I mentioned earlier. I’m sorry that your chosen repairman hadn’t a clue about fitting it. It is a fairly straightforward exercise to fit and wiring the switch has to be done both carefully and logically having first noted the wiring configuration of the existing switch. The first one I ever did years back took about 30 mins in total, today I can perhaps do it in 20 mins? Fiddly, fun and ultimately fixable! And should not in any way require a second visit to complete being as you are handing the guy the part required in the first place!:rolls:

Thanks Martin, I agree with you. And if I knew the dismantling procedure I too think it common sense to work out which wire goes where. Any chance you could talk me through it (I don’t mean this w/e!) or send instructions?

Just had an email from Dave in Spares and he suggests I ask if anyone has a better copy of the Whirpools instruction leaflet for the switch.

Hmmmm? Not a bad idea from Dave, sadly I don’t have a copy as I always leave the instruction leaflet with my customers along with the old faulty switch. The problem is further compounded by the fact you bought the ‘Whirlpool’ equivalent rather than the genuine Bosch sourced part. Not that there’s any problem with that because ultimately they are identical. However the Bosch version likely as not would have contained a clearer instruction leaflet with it, not a poor photocopy.:(
But, ignoring that fact though it is a very straightforward procedure and almost a like for like swap-over even without those flippin’ instructions to be honest. I cannot help you further other than to suggest that next time you go to Brighton, stick the machine in your motor and on your way to Banbury stop by my place (Nr. Basingstoke) and I’ll fit it in there for you whilst you sup a nice cup of tea. (Finger buscuits and butterfly cakes come at an extra cost by the way!)….all for a modest fee you understand… 😉 😀
