    Hi, I have a Servis M7055-6WFF (Serial #: 20044306014-038203013-03) fridge freezer.

In the last couple of days frost has been forming on the front of the freezer drawers (this is a supposedly frost-free model) and just today the motor started making a loud grinding noise (I thought it was the guy upstairs using a power drill at first!) which only stopped once I opened and closed the fridge door. It sounds normal again now.

Any thoughts on what these symptoms suggest?

Simplistic answer – before you do anything, defrost the appliance ie switch it off put a couple of towels across the front and leave it off for at least 48 hours with the doors open. Then see what happens on restart. Its sound like you are totally frozen up behind the freezer evaporator cover.

Thanks for the reply. I’ll try switching it off as you suggest. Will post again in a few days once it’s back up and running (or not as the case might be!).

Well I’ll be switching it back on tomorrow morning but there has been no water coming out of it at all. I can only assume that it wasn’t frozen up. Maybe the compressor (or motor or whatever – I’m not really up on my fridges!) is just on the way out.

Nah, it’s still the same. Making weird grinding noises more often now. Currently pricing up new fridges now. Thanks anyway!
