I recently noticed that the level of the rinse water in my Bosch Exxcel 1000 washer seems very low. Is this the way the machine is supposed to work or is there a fault?

This is the actual model: Bosch WFO2064GB (FD 8202 601162). It’s not a new model but it’s the machine which was left for me in my new house.

None of the rinses for the cottons or the polycotton washes (not even the final rinse) fills up to a level which reaches the door glass. In fact, the water level during the rinses is more like the water level I get during the main detergent wash.

I don’t know if it helps but I noticed that if I select only the “Rinses” option on the dial, then the rinse water is about a third of the way up the door glass. However, maybe directly selecting the Rinse programme directly gives a non-standard rinse.

Do you think this is the way the machine is supposed to work or is there a fault?

Sounds like normal operation…the rinse only option(Bosch also call a refresh) puts a lot more water in and is usually a third up the glass.

The machines can appear to use very little water on normal cycles -what are the wash results like?

The machines usually have a rinse plus or wash plus button option which can also improve wash peformance with any of the programs.

I use the extra rinse button but I get the feeling that the final rinse is a bit too sudsy. When I took a closer look I saw the fill level for the rinses was about two inches above the bottoms of the drum. Do you think that’s alright?

Using extra rinse option is fine especially for cottons. The water levels are fine and normal by the way so no worries there either. What you need to ensure though, especially on a cottons cycle, is not to overdose with detergent. If at the end of the final rinse there is still evidence of a lot of suds that is likely to be the only reason.

There may also be a lot of residual detergent within the inner and outer drum cavity that will need monthly ‘service washes’ to help clear out. For more detailed information on that simply CLICK THIS LINK

    Hope that helps?:D

    Hi Smarko,

Have a read of this topic.

Also some detergents rinse out easier than others, from personal experience I find Persil far easier to rinse out than Ariel and other Proctor & Gamble detergents.

I had to build a DIY solution to this problem. Its working well but you need to be there by the machine during the rinse
