My condensing dryer has starting displaying error code E50. Makes a noise on programme start but essentially the drum doesn’t turn and the message flashes up after a couple of mins.

So having done a bit of research looks like E50 means the machine is sensing the drum failing to turn which apparently suggests a number of possibilities e.g. Motor and or Brushes, Belt, Capacitors.

I had the side off today and confirmed the belt is ok. I read on another forum that if you give the drum a helping hand when the programme starts and the motor kicks in, its a capacitor problem.

Can anybody confirm if this is the case, and if so, as there seems to be two different capacitors which on might have failed or another way I can diagnose which one may be at fault.

If it’s not a capacitor problem does any body know if this model actually has a motor requiring brushes? Having squinted through the motor casing it looks more like an induction motor to me which I guess means no brushes to wear.

    Many Thanks

if drum goes with a push then it is likely capacitor has gone

manual lists a 6uF capacitor which will be mounted by ther main motor

tumble dryers never use brush motors

dont forget to unplug appliance before removing covers
