ParticipantHi,
I would be grateful for any help to fix this. Machine is fairly old and I seem to remember I had a similar problem last year or so but it just suddenly came back to life.
Anyway, I’ve cleaned out the filter, checked that the pump spins ok. I’ve physically removed the pump and inspected and checked for an open circuit uing a multimeter. It was fine, although it doesn’t look in the best of condition. The other thing that’s puzzling me is that it’s an Askoll M114 pump, but looking through the spare parts shop, it lists an Askoll M113 instead? There’s two red wires coming out of the pump, I presume it doesn’t matter which way the wires are connected?
Anyway, I’ve checked all hoses for blockages, which seem fine. The sump drain hose has what appears to be a large ping-pong ball in the top – I guess this is supposed to be there since I can’t even begin to imagine how this has gotten in there.
However, after all checks, it still won’t drain. There is no noise whatsoever emitting from the pump region – like it doesn’t even try to start the pump. I put it on 30C/30 (the fastest program) and after about 10 minutes, (after filling with water and then rinsing for a bit), it just skips to end with the two flash error code. According to the manual it means that water hasn’t drained.
Would the pump definetely be faulty? If so, would an Askoll M113 definetely work?
Many thanks,
Kai

The Askoll pumps are pretty universal…there are different configurations of the connections but they all have two…and in and an out (which are interchangeable being connected to AC) so any Askoll pump will replace any other.
If you have measured a good circuit through it then check for free play of the impellor, this should rotate freely with a little ‘spring’ as you rotate it but there should be no significant side play to the impellor at all…if there is then it’s goosed 😉

Thanks for the reply. I’ve since gotten hold of a new pump, part M113, just like the one on the UKWG website. Unfortunately, it’s still not working. The difference I’ve noticed is that there seems to be an extra component on in it and a terminal located in the middle and end rather than at both ends.
The old pump has some brown marks on the coils – where it looks to have maybe overheated or something. However, using a multimeter, it still measures a closed circuit. There is also a slight resistance when turning too, like the magnets are gripping. It’s stronger on the new pump though.
I’ve checked the wires for continuity all the way up to the PCB- which are fine too. The only thing I can think of is that it’s to do with the PCB? It seems like it’s not activating the pump at all? However, everything else appears to works besides the point when it comes to activating the pump. I’ve tried running the new pump outside the washing machine (the old pump was in at the time). At no point did the pump make any noises or turn at all.
Does anyone else have any ideas?

ParticipantDoes sound like a PCB fault, is the pump fed directly from the PCB for both wires? Sometimes they share a neutral through the heater or fill valves…..

There’s only two red wires attached to the pump. Both wires run up the side and directly to the PCB. Since both wires are red.. it doesn’t seem like there is a neutral.
I sent the PCB off to QER on Saturday – but have yet to receive anything back from them (either acknowledgement or the PCB back). I hope they can fix it.

Just to add an update to this.
Received the PCB back from QED exactly one week after it was sent (Saturday to Saturday). Although not notification that the PCB was received/repaired/resent, there was a slip enclosed saying that it had been repaired and a new pump would also be needed. Through a lot of ringing around and research everyone said that the pump part number was the one I already had, so reconnected everything up and away I went.
Everything is now working as expected 🙂
