ParticipantHi,
I have recently purchased a replacement belt for a Butler BWA 1719 washing machine and am having difficluty fitting it. It seems about an inch too short of the spindle and no amount of pulling and stretching is working!! I was informed by Dave at WhiteGoods that they are notoriously difficult to fit and that my best bet was to post a request for help on the forum.
Can someone please help (im sick of going to the launderette and dont want to buy a new machine just yet)!
Thanks.

Hi
Just fit belt over motor pulley first then onto drum pulley and wind pulley around, be careful of your fingers.

Thanks Washman. So, start at the bottom spindle and then try and wind on to drum? I’ve tried that but there is no give at all in the belt…wont stretch on to the drum. Whats the trick in getting this on? 😕

The numbers on the new belt are 36984800 Megadyne EL1183 J5 16.5/270
Old belt numbers: Contitech PJ1194/47OJ EL
Thanks

Hi
The new belt you have is wrong the 1183 part of the number is the length in millimetres, so the new belt needs to be 1194 the same as the old belt.

We paid for a “repair man” to “fix” the belt and he fitted the 1194 belt, which then snapped after a half dozen cycles. We have come to the conclusion that he was a cowboy..so not sure where that leaves us with what type of belt to use. UK Whitegoods tell us that the 1183 belt is correct for the model BWA 1719. As Butler are now out of business we just need to know the correct length of belt to order..
Thanks for all of your replies.
