Im almost certain this is an American built ff Admiral/Maytag as its identical to ones ive seen before.
The strange fault is to do with ice/water dispenser. Customer said the ice dispenser has not worked for a couple of years and she had some one out before who looked at it but did not fix it. Basicly it dispenses water fine but although it makes ice, the dispenser flap does not operate (it was actualy loose and flapping about). So i took the front off and found that the spring had come away from its position so thats why the flap was loose. Fixed that. Then i noticed that one of the wires was off of the solenoid that operates the flap. Aha! i thought, thats why the flap is not working. So i reconnected the wire and after checking every thing else i could see ( micro switch etc) i put it back together. The problem is, when the water is selected, and you press the rubber button, it works fine but as soon as you select the ice button it activates the solenoid, opening the flap before you even push the rubber button (micro switch) with the glass. The solenoid makes a loud buzzing noise too. I think this is why the wire had been disconected in the first place. Any one had this fault? Im thinking it must be the front board. Thanks

Thats right, just check the plastic housing has not distorted from the heat of the solenoid. Also sometimes damages cube/crush solenoid next to auger motor

ParticipantThe dispenser ‘bulb’ blowing can cause the front board to pop ! If you remove and examine the front board ( not the one on the front cover but the one actually in the dispenser unit ) , you might find some burnt out track. common prob is bulb blowing and drawing a quick shot of high current which blows PCB.

Thanks ill check out the board. The bulb was blown so it could be what you described Nomadpaul.
I checked on BSH and the only part that looked like the board was something described as Housing Part No266805. Is this the board? Thanks
