    Hi,

My Hotpoint Aquarius DC24 has been having intermittent problems emptying for a few weeks but was still otherwise working. However, last week as it switched to the drying cycle it gave two loud bangs and produced some smoke. I looked inside and the only item that seemed to show any sign of damage was the connections on the 4uF capacitor which were slightly blackened.

I replaced the capacitor but , once again, when it got to the drying stage it gave three loud bangs and produced smoke. As it appears to be related to the change from the rinse cycle to the drying cycle is there a specific problem I should be looking for? Does it require a major repair?

I’d be very grateful if anyone has any ideas or suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I am about to get rid of this now. Is it really beyond repair?

The capacitor you changed is the one that drives the main circulation pump.

Its worth checking the mains suppressor, located where the mains cable enters the machine.

A bit pricey though, mains cable and suppressor assembly around £35.00 ex vat.

Thanks very much for the reply.

Any tips about where I can get the parts? The shop linked to this forum say they can’t source it and I’m not having any luck via ebay etc.

Have you actually had a look at the mains suppressor?

    Part number is C00211513.

I managed to get a new mains suppressor and fitted it today. I then plugged the dishwasher in via a circuit breaker. However, it’s now just tripping the circuit breaker each time I switch the plug on. Any ideas?

The only way forward is a step by step visual and electrical test of all components and wiring, sadly not an easy task on these machines as access is very limited.
