ParticipantGood afternoon all,
Wondering if anyone can offer some advice about the above vented tumble dryer.
The m/c is staining laundry, most noticibly white cotton shirts.
The stain is a grey metallic colour, which can be removed without too much difficulty.
I have checked the filter, which was heavily clogged including a one pence piece.
However, I ran the m/c to re-check, and the staining continues after a short period on a ready to wear programme.
I’m wondering if the cause is being produced by the m/c, and there is a collection of fine metallic like dust noticeable at the rear of the drum.
Perhaps the m/c needs stripping completely, and a thorough clean and inspection.
Not sure where else to check, as bearings appear fine and aren’t noisy.
Best wishes,
jontymox

Front felt bearing & bearing pads will likely need replacing. You need to clean front of drum also where it had rubbed off felt .

Thanks Seamy,
Have stripped m/c and renewed front plastic bearings and felt.
Hopefully cured staining problem.
However, the heater only works for 5-10 seconds, before going off.
I’m wondering if there is a reset sequence, as I don’t think theres a reason for the heater to misbehave.
Could someone advise on above?
Best wishes,

It’s a sensor dryer, heater will be turned off in auto if no clothes in dryer or if not enough to make contact with sensor bars. Try timed drying for testing.

Thanks again Seamy,
I have tried what you suggested, and the heater problem remains.
This is with a fairly large load of towels etc, some damp, on various programmes.
The heater glows red hot for about 5 seconds, then goes off and stays off.
I have noticed when this occurs, only the upper pair of elements work.
Wonder if the heater unit is failing/failed by coincidence!
Kind regards,

ParticipantRe: Beko DRV5 62W tumble dryer staining laundry – now noisy!
Good evening,
The above tumble dryer is now fine, other than a moderate squealing noise on spin.
As reported several weeks ago, the m/c was staining laundry, so I renewed the nylon/plastic front bearings and felt.
This has cured the staining problem.
However, about one week after the bearing renewal, the customer reported a squealing noise on spin.
After checking, I located the source of the noise ( front drum/bearing area!) and sprayed a small amount of WD40 in the area.
This immediately stopped the noise, and all was well.
Alas, about 4-5 weeks later I have just received a phone call from the customer to say the squeal has returned.
I understand WD40 does eventually dry out, and wonder how I can cure the problem permanently.
Should I contact Beko for their opinion; ( perhaps the nylon/plastic bearings are to blame?) or does someone have an answer for a solution?
Best wishes,
jontymox
