ParticipantGot WF321 board totally destroyed by spillage from drain hose (customer error). Have obtained WF210 main + fascia off a popular online auction site 😀 at a reasonable price. From pics have determined distinct similarity between fascia design of the two models and I’m pretty sure they’re same motor*.
Will it work or is there something I don’t know?
Mike.
*Edit: Just had another look on Connect and not so sure.October 7, 2010 at 6:24 pm #332361BobHope

Hi Mike,
the module will fit but the eprom file will need to be reprogrammed with a smartcard or if the eprom is the old removable type it will swap over, last resort if its surface mounted you could do micro surgery on it and unsolder it and tranfer it to the new pcb.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for your advice. I’m not going to invest in reader and smart card, just don’t want to get involved in all that. (I’ve got the right board on the way too but just don’t see what the difference is between models.) Is it spin speed? Also, are all specimens of same model same spin speed? Had a look at selector knobs and they look same too.

Hmm.
The board I got which is reputedly from a WF321 looks absolutely fine but it lacks some of the components which were on the old board, notably J2 and J5 sockets and Q14 triac, K6 relay and some smaller stuff near J5.
Looking at WF210 and WF340 boards I also have, they don’t have those extra bits either. I don’t think, but can’t remember for sure, that those two sockets were used on the actual machine. I wonder if later boards (this WF321 is 2006) had less components?
Any historians of Merloni electronic circuitry qualified to post-graduate level able to supply answers to this conundrum here?

I bet EMW have all the answers you seek. 💡

Yeah, but I’d feel a bit cheeky.

Hi Mike,
post up or PM an email and i will send some info, but the board will still need to be reprogrammed with the new eprom file.

Hi Bob, Thanks for that. I’ve decided it’s best to make my e-mail address visible to all. Can always take it down again if they start bombarding me 😆 .
Don’t understand why I should need to re-programme the board if it came from same model :?. I see the card reader’s a horrendous price now, £64 at Connect, and the cards are £11+. I might abandon the project to use secondhand boards if your info is correct and give the business back to EMW.
I have got the fascia board too. Does that make any odds?

Well I went back to this today and fitted the correct boards for the model which cost me just over £30 off a mildly dodgy e-bay private seller but that did include a good motor too so not bad although he packed the lot in one big box with no packing so it was a miracle it survived.
Anyway, fitted main board first but found machine just sat there with door locked and several lights on and would not respond to on/off switch. Thought for a minute that he’d passed me off with a dud and was composing my negative feedback in my head when it occurred to me to try fitting the fascia board too. Did this and tested and all seems to be working fine now. Left customer to test it through a complete cycle but fairly confident all’s OK. How much would that have cost in parts from Nottingham? Have also obtained pairs of boards for WF210 and WF340 from less dodgy sellers and have them in stock if anyone wants to give me a good price anytime :D.
