Participanthu,
hope some one can advise on this for me.
I don’t usually repair bosch DW so i’ll need all the help i can get.
customer says the motor isnt running on this machine.
i took the side panel off and the ciculation pump is definately running but only a trickle of water is being pumped to the lower spray arm, none to the top.
is this usually a broken impellor on the pump or a blockage in the system?
i was going to take the circulation pump off but was scared to try as i couldn’t see how i came out.
does the bottom plastic base drop down, or does the stainless tub lift up to gain access to the motor/heater assembly.
thanks.

if the wash tub has plenty of water in it then i’d assume a blockage of some sort. with regard to taking off the base, i’ve done loads of them over the years and familiarity makes it quite easy. however if you’ve never done one it is a real pain. it would be better done in the workshop after sucking all water out with an aquavac, then you can fiddle about without someone watching. i suspect no one has advised you because it would be far too complicated to explain.
the basics would be to remove metering device and the side matrix. unhook the hinge strings. unhook the spray pump rubbers, remove the screw holding the base to the tub. the fill valve and drain hose outlet to be loosened off, the wiring loom connectors detached from the base. then with it lying on its back the base should ease off leaving everything else attached to the sump.
i’ve probably forgotten something, but what i’ve described might help you decide wether to bother at all. with practice it is ok to do.October 7, 2010 at 6:23 pm #332370suedehead1

it could be a model with the silly motorised cam with a big hole and a small hole, if the motor stops turning it depends if a hole is lining up with the spray arms.

sorry mate, don’t understand.
where is this cam situated?is it on the output side of the circulation pump?
the circulation pump seems to be turning fine, does this cam sometimes stick in the wrong place or something?
if so what is the fix?
cheers,

yeah i dont really understand myself,
the circulation pump sprays through the heater box, in the assembly is an old timer style motor which turns a 3 inch disc which has 2 holes in it a big hole and a small hole it is to give different spraying. the disc can stick and depending where it sticks will cause a problem.
the fix is replace assembly or my personal favourite strip it down and remove disc, throw it away then it wont stick again.
i am ready for critiscm from bosch fans.October 7, 2010 at 8:31 pm #332373suedehead1

Yep it could be the diverter in the heater box (complete heater box assy req’d) but you can just about check the impellor in situ by using a long 8mm socket through the sump onto it…carefully wedge the pump motor with a screwdriver through the back of the pump frame then try to rotate the impellor…fiddly but do-able.
The impellor kit is available without the rest of the pump but make sure you order the jubilee clip for the outlet hose to the heater…the original is a crimp type and a pig to reseal, and the jubilee clip is much narrower than a normal one so it will fit in the space.
The way i do them is lay the machine on it’s LHS propped on a small cardboard box with lid, outer door. kick panel and both sides off. Remove tub retaining screws…the two at the back are obvious, the two at the front screw into the tub/hinge supports. Unhook the door springs then carefully ease the RHS of the base away from the tub until the RH hinge/tub support can be pulled slightly outside the tub which will prop it open while you do the job 😉
45 mins plus coffee drinking time 😆

The SRS4002GB/01 does not have a ‘water point’ divertor cam system in the heater box so you can rule that out. It’s either debris caught in the impellor or the impellor has split in two I would think.
Best tip: Using a dentists type little angled mirror you can shine a torch and inspect the impellor through the sump without stripping it to bits. If there’s glass or dishwasher tab packaging jammed in the impellor it can easily be hooked out with a bit of bent wire. But if the impellor has split in two then is a tub off and sort it job.
