    Hi there, i posted on another thread that was made on here as the person that started the thread had exactly the same fault as me, (Felt the rite thing to do). It wasnt an old thred either so i thaught it would still be active. I got a reply saying that it is the interlock that needs changing and that he couldnt understand why i was posting in that thread…… why not???

    So i desided to make a new thread and ask the question i wanted to ask,

    I understand it is a new interlock that i require and i also know that zanussi have brought out a new type interlock as the old one had problems….. how do i know which one is the new one and which one is the old one? A little help would be great, thanks .

    I did not mean to come across sarcastic or anything in my oppening post if anyone thinks i am…. just i thaught i would have had a reply by now as this is a well used forum by the looks of things.

    Edit: After having another read of the reply i got in the other post i now understand what “Seamy” ment by why he couldnt understand why i was posting there….. my machine is out of warranty thats why i am posting on here. 🙂

    I read on the other post in here and also the reply i got from seamy that it is a new interlock but i have tested the machine on another 3 or so cycles and the door opens 1st time no problems and also at the end of the 40 degree one that the fault is on i have to select the washer to drain then the door opens no problems again…… could it still be the interlock??

    Hi Dave, the part you need is 1240349017 its a new type interlock that resolves the problem of doors with original type lock fitted intermittently staying locked.
    To clarify the earlier mentioned posting of mine, i thought that your appliance was covered by warranty still & couldn’t understand why you had’nt called manufacturers to repair it for free.

    Thanks for your reply Seamy and no offence caused atal so the is no need to appoligise. I will give you a little update,

    I called a local engineer and he is of the oppinion it cant be the interlock as i only get the fault on the one cycle, and that it could only be the interlock if it happend on all cycles. He also mentiond its more than likely to be a PCB fault as it is only affecting the one cycle.
    I have also been trying different cycles and there is no problems with them.. also i tryed the cycle that the fault is happening on but at a different speed and it works no problems… so the fault is on the 40 degree wash at the 900 speed only.

    My engineer also mentioned something about an EU regulation so i done a quick Google and found the regualtion he mentioned. You are probable familiour with it (Appliances come with a 2 year garentee under EU regulations). So i contacted Currys who i baught the machine from and they give me a case number and i will be contacted withing 72 hours, 2 hours later they call and i am told, I have to employ an engineer at my expence to diagnose the fault and write a report up on the fault and give a price including labour to repair the fault. This report is then sent to Currys and assesed, then there is a desision made wether my claim is successfull or unsuccessfull. If unsuccessfull and i have no claim i do not get the money back for the engineer doing the report etc (Leaving me out of pocket). So i contacted Zanussi direct and they were no help atal… the EU rule only applies with the Supplier of the washing machine end of basicly.

    So now i am writing a letter to Currys explaining my problem and why im not happy with the service i am receaving…… If you shout loud enough for long enough some times it pays off.

    Basicly i beleave it should be them employing the engineer to do the report and if it was missuse or wear and tear thats causing the fault i would be more than happy to pay for the engineers report after it is done but i am of the oppinion that i cant damage the PCB and it has to be a manufacturing fault.
