    Hi
    I’ve got two induction hobs with the same fault that I’ve not seen before – hope someone can help.

    If you put one pan on the front induction plate its OK and heats normally. Likewise, if you put one pan on the rear plate it also heats normally.

    However, if you put one pan on the front and one pan on the rear and switch them on together one of the plates will reduce in power (seen via the diminishing LED power indicator dots) or switch off.
    It doesn’t make any difference which one is turned on first but whichever is turned on second stays on with the first plate losing power.

    First one is a De Dietrich WN3549E (only the induction section is faulty) and the second is a Brandt HFR65B1U.

    Both units have had power input terminal blocks checked OK and cooling fans are also working OK. The fault occurs immediately the second plate is switched on via the touch control.

    Shot down on this one………

    Seen this on other makes and it isn’t a fault.
    If you add up the max ratings of all four rings it will exceed the max rating of the whole unit and the settings adjust to allow for this.

    The DeDietrich unit is half induction and half ceramic (ceramic is OK). She’s had the unit for 13 years and has only just had this problem – its worked normally since new. The Brandt unit is 6 years old and again it has operated as normal until just recently.
    Both these jobs are via insurance company and so cannot just fire parts at them

    As EFS says this is normal on these appliances….if you put both on max…1 will drop to 8 the other to 7…making the max that is 15! any variations of the 2 will only ever add up to 15!

    With one plate on full the other is dropping back to very low or off.
    Would you say this is right?
    Seems weird that I’ve not had this situation reported before over the years then two in seperate areas in a week!!

    yep thats normal, if you want to booster or cook on high put 1 pan on left side and 1 on right
