Tokyo (JCNN) – Sharp has developed an apparatus for collecting plastics from dismantled disposed washing machine tanks.
The apparatus can collect plastics almost completely; conventional manual operations result in 50% collection. With antioxidant added, the recovered plastics will be recycled for use in new washing machine tanks.
The company projects that the apparatus will enable recycling of 300 tons per year of plastics from disposed washing machine tanks.
