ParticipantWe have just installed an AEG Lavamat 12843 VIT waher dryer in our kitchen. We have run 2 cylces only. The first was empty as suggested in the instructions and the second was a full load of washing. At the end of the second cylce we found a loose metal hose clip in the drum – diameter about 2cm. It must have come from the machine as it was definitely not in the washing when it went in! The machine seems to be working fine and there is no sign of a leak so far. However, it seems to me cause for concern.
Has anybody come across something similar? Should I complain? I would be grateful for any opinions/advice.
Many thanks

If there was a metal hose clip in the machine when you ran it through without any clothes in it you would have heard a loud noise as it was clanking round inside the drum.
Its nigh on impossible for something to get back into the inner drum from the outer drum therefore I must surmise that despite your assertions, the metal clip went in with the load of washing.
Post up a picture of this clip if you can, we might be able to allay your fears if we have a look at it.

Thanks very much for your reply. I would be very grateful if you could comment on a photo. I can’t see how to attach one here but I have loaded one into the Photo Gallery. Hope this is ok.
Many thanks.

Definitely a type of clip used in domestic appliances. Not seen that type used much in Zanussi machines but I don’t get to see them until they are a couple of years old.
Often used on hoses that are under pressure so you would soon know about it if it had come adrift from somewhere important. 😉 Hard to tell from that picture but it doesn’t look like a ‘new’ clip.
I don’t think it is anything to worry about, I’m just mystified as to why you didn’t hear it when the machine was running empty if it was in the drum at the time. :con:

Yes, that’s it. Thanks for getting it onto the page. I’ve never seen it before and it turns up in the new washer. It is very odd that we did not hear any noise on the first run.
In the photo it is a liitle over exposed! It does look quite new when you see it in real life. The surface is quite shiny.

Very odd, as I said I don’t think you need to worry about it. If the machine has completed two cycles then it will be fine.
Was the washer fully boxed when it was delivered or was it unpacked before you got it?

It was fully boxed when delivered to us and installed by our kitchen fitters.
We’ll keep on using it and see how it goes. We’ve run it a few more times today with no further problems.
Thank you for your help and advice.
