ParticipantHi – Not sure if you can help.
Model Number: DI-67(UK)
Type: LS 12 BIT-100I have a DI-67 Indesit Dishwasher. It has run reliably for the last 8 years, so arguably we have done well with it, but it has now stopped drying the plates, and I don’t think it is actually heating the water either, as the washing seems to have got worse and the whole machine seems cold at the end of a wash cycle. (It seems to be leaving a film of soap on things)
I have tested the Heater element which shows an impedance of 28 Ohms, so I am assuming that it is OK and so am wondering what I should try next. The obvious options are Thermostat or Control board, but I am not sure if I can test either of these parts, and not even sure if the thermostat would be in circuit for the drying cycle.
I haven’t tested the fan, but as the machine is cold at the end of the drying cycle, I am assuming it isn’t a fan problem – its a source of heat problem.
Any thoughts? In the absence of advice, I will probably bite the bullet and buy a new control board…
Thanks

As you may have already read, the heaters and PCB’s on these machines are very unreliable. 8 years is possibly 4 or 5 years longer than most people get from these machines before the heater or PCB gives out. 😥
There is a small safety thermostat in the base that is in circuit with the heater, not a common fault but easy enough to test for continuity.
As the PCB is around £60.00 ex vat I would think carefully before spending that sort of money on it.

Thanks for the reply.
I have tested the Thermostat which shows short-circuit (about 0.3 Ohms) so I think that is fine. There is also a pressure switch in circuit. I have taken this off and when I blow into it it switches to about 0 Ohms.
So, with the water full, the Pressure Switch is 0 Ohms, the Thermostat is 0 Ohms and the heater is 28 Ohms – seems to me that the relay has failed, or the control circuit feeding the relay has gone, which both point to a failed control board.
As regards whether it is worth replacing, then I will have to consider that one. If I purchase a new machine, then unless its a Miele or something of similar cost, then the components seem to be of similar quality to those in the machine I already have, or have I missed something?
Thanks again.

BSH products, Bosch, Neff, Siemens are not as expensive as Miele but much, much better quality than any Indesit. 😉
In fact, apart from the Chinese stuff I would be hard pressed to name a poorer quality machine than current Indesit dishwashers. 😥
