ParticipantI have a WMA33 that will not spin so I checked the pump which appears ok. However the machine will not rotate & there is a violet coloured wire disconnected which is connected to the rear rhs of the drum but unsure what this unit is.
The programme dial can select a prog & all the prewash etc lights illuminate but when you press the start button the door indicates locked but the lights do no go out & leave the prewash or wash light on alone.Any ideas for the violet wire which has an inline crimp on the disconnected end or what the problem may be?
Thanks in advance

If the loose wire is violet with a thin green stripe then it goes to the heating element located bottom right, early models have a black plastic cover over the terminals.
If the drum does not rotate then the first thing to check is the motor brushes, all with the main plug removed of course. 🙂

Thanks for that info. Yes the violet wire is attached at element end but where does it go to please?
Does the motor remove from the base as only a small rear panel?October 16, 2010 at 8:30 pm #333180iadom

First of all I must point you towards the Forum Rules #8 applies.
Motor is removed through the small back panel.

Hi iadom
Many thanks for the details on motor removal? I understand rule 8 & I am just after a clue as to where to look for the other end of the wire or if it is actually spare.Regards

If by ‘inline crimp’ you mean a butt connector then the machine has had some repairs done on the wiring harness at some time.
You need to have a good look round to find the other end of the wire underneath the drum.

Hi Iadom
Yes a butt connector RS Stock No. 613-9794 Red. if I can get the motor out to check the brushes I may be able to see the other end in the loom.Roy
