ParticipantI have an old Rosieres 2040 d DB UK range. The right hand convection oven is no longer workig correctly. When I turn it on both the bottom element and the grill element come on together even though the control knob is nowhere near the grill setting. The oven light comes on and the thermostat still work and turn both elements off when it get up to temparature. Any ideas why the grill element is on when it shouldn’t be?

Are you saying that the top element should come on as well as the bottom element when using just the oven setting? I don’t recall it working that way before and it is now burning food on top when it didn’t before.

Both the outer and the inner elements in the top combines element are being turned on when the control is set to only the oven setting (not the grill).

Hi
For oven it uses both the lower element and the grill element, most conventional ovens do it that way. apart from ovens that have side elements.

Yes I appreciate it uses the top element when the oven is in use. However the top element is of 2 parts – an outer part that I believe is for oven use and an inner grill part. It is the inner part that is now turning on when the control is set to oven use. I am pretty sure this is not correct but would appreciate this being confirmed as the operating manaul doesn’t clarify this. What I do know is that food now gets burned when using this oven which reinforces my ciew that this inner grill element should not be being turned on.
