    Hi,
    A CredaXL1200, type 17113X, the serial No. 72166479

The original motor burnt out, thats to say the motor would not run, and closer look showed thecom was black, and the brush housing melted, ok I thought motor’s had it, as a high current has passed via the brushes to the armiture.

So I got a new/or should I say a factory re-con motor, put that in and all was well for about 4 weeks, then the same fault happened,so I thought well a faulty factory re-con, so I got another, underwarranty and all was well for 2 weeks this time and the same has happened again.

So would you folks that know about these machines say that I have just dropped on a load of faulty works re-con motors, or could it be the programmer thats feeding a higher or longer timed voltage to the motor.

Any Help would be very nice.

This will almost certainly be linked to a drain problem. A partial blockage will cause the motor to labour as it ramps up into spin. Similarly a worn pump will tend to run slow and not drain as quickly as it should.

Cross check with “Carbon Brushes” in Public Tips.

Whatever you do next, pull the plug first!

I concur with Penguin on this, the pump must drain away the water as quickly as possible, otherwise the motor labours in trying to spin off the water. The ‘sump hose trap/filter’ will most likely be blocked or restricted in some way. If your machines drain is coupled to the sink, that coupling may well be partially blocked and worth a check. 💡

Also do avoid ‘continuous’ wash loads. 😉 Give your machine a 10 or 15 minute break between washes to enable the motor a chance to ‘cool off!’.

There have been problems with the replacement brushes on hotpoint and creda machines and there solution is to fit a new motor which requires you to cut of the white motor plug loom and rewire with a yellow plug in the kit. Hence re con motors have the brushes in that fail often. You can tell what type of brush is in the motor. If it is a nylon type brush it is the unreliable one. The old type were a pot type which could withstand the heat from the motor. Hope this helps

    Hi,
I have now relaced the drain pipe from the pump to the connection for the Washing machine drain in the sink trap under the kitchen sink.

It was some what restricted the old drain pipe with soap scum and matted fibers, I also checked the washing machine filter in the trap before the pump, this was clear, not that it looked like much of a filter,as it’s only a white plastic cup type vessel, with various 1/4 inch (in old money) holes in.

I have put in yet another replacment works re con motor, and alls well at the moment, I have alson instructed my good lady to wait at least 30 minutes before stating another wash in the machine.

As Sparkp calls up the motor brush holders are nylon, and are the source of the problem, but the in the past the motors have lasted at least a year or more, and the problem then was that the brushes are worn out.

So this is a new to me problem, and as you folks have said that the motor load is crittical, ,so for longer life reduce this as much as possible.

Pity they do not fit a motor thats well over rated for the job, instead of a just about cope type.

Thank you all for your help, and a great forum.
