ParticipantIt’s a washer dryer – Hotpoint WD865
The dryer works – it gets hot, fan is blowing, water valves open and pump pumps, but clothes are still damp at the end of the cycle – just as wet as they were at the start, just hotter!
What I have noticed when testing on an empty drum, is that just after the valves open to take in some water at various times during the cycle (presumably to cool the condenser?) there is a visible trickle of water in the back of the drum. As the drum stops rotating, you can see the water trickle from the top of the drum and run down the seam at the rear of the drum. Not a lot, just a trickle
So is it possible that water is somehow getting into the drum, or is this the condensate not being pumped out?
Apparently the air box is clear of fluff etc

Have you checked the large sump hose going to the drain pump for partial blockages?

Daz,
Sorry I can’t help you. This sounds exactly like my problem – (Hotpoint WDM73) – did you find a solution?
I,ve checked the sump hose as the previous post suggested. Also checked condensor, heater and fan. No faults yet. Thanks,

Daz,
Don’t know if you’re still having trouble but I’ve sorted mine…
After checking each component individually I finally cam to a small plastic chamber (pressure chamber) fixed in front of, and beneath the drum. The piece of clear plastic tube from this to the pressure switch at the top of the machine was restricted with 7 years’ worth of gunk. A soak in hot water, some manipulation and a good flush through cleared the partial blockage.
Everything is now as good as new. And all it cost me was 3 day’s labour!
Hope this helps.Paul.

WDM73 is totally original Hotpoint production, the later WD865 is sadly more Indesit than Hotpoint.
Completely different machines, the only thing they have in common is the name on the front. You should keep the WDM73 for as long as you can, much better machine than the current rubbish.
