ParticipantLast night, I started the washing machine (an Indesit WD12S) about an hour before going to bed. Three hours later, we woke up and could hear it was still spinning so my wife switched it off.
The following day my wife switched it back on but nothing happened. She tried to restart the full washing cycle from the beginning and when reached the spin cycle, the knob started spinning in circles. Coming back from work, I also tried a new wash cycle but it wouldn’t start and the knob spun to reach the spin cycle and nothing else happened.
I tried to check the pump: I unscrewed the cap a 1/4 turn (wouldn’t turn further…) but it wouldn’t pop out, though all the water started to drain from there. I also checked the pipes/filters at the back and they were clear.
Now every time I try a new wash cycle, it starts normally but hangs after a few minutes in a small buzzing noise. A few minutes later the buzzing noise stops and the knobs spin indefinitely in circle accompanied by a slight rattling noise inside the machine. Any ideas what it could be and if there is a way to fix it?
Thanks in advance

Participantu need to unblock the pump from the sounds of it
with the plug out, tilt the machine back , undo the screws, and drop the pump from underneath…then undo the pump from the back and remove whatevers in there

Thanks a lot helo_75, I did exactly what you advised and it is now working again!
I removed one of these colour catcher sheets off the pump, and although we never use that stuff, we let my brother-in-law use our washing machine after his own one broke down, from which we also removed a colour catcher afterwards!! You just saved two washing machines 😀

hi all, on reading this i just wondered how many washing machines are taken to the council tip etc when just a bit of cleaning and unblocking is required!! I have posted on here before about what a brilliant site this is and i have definately had my point proved here! And for FREE, a thing seldom heard of in this day and age!

Hi Quickwash, I was just thinking the same as my brother-in-law was about to throw away his machine too, but although mine is 7 years old I was determined to save it 😉
