ParticipantI have taken the machine apart, and found the bearing on the drum collapsed.
Has anyone attempted to re assemble, what are te pittfalls i might encounter, where do i get a workshop manual to assist ?
where do i obtain the new bearings?
any help greatly appreciated.
ThanksJuly 10, 2004 at 9:25 pm #113890Penguin45
ParticipantPicked a good one there Rushwood!
You will need a bearing and seal set and the tub half gasket at the bare minimum. If there is ANY damage to the shaft or brass ferrule, this must be replaced as well. Mr Conway can probably advise prices on Monday when the offices are open.
There is no such thing as a workshop manual for any Zanussi appliance
General tip to bear in mind is that cleanliness IS next to Godliness upon reassembly.
Good luck,

Set of Bearings approx £25, Drum (If shaft is the least bit damaged by collapsed bearing?) approx £65 and the Two Halves Tub Gasket approx £6.50

Thanks again 😥You’ve got so far by taking it to little pieces so you should see the job through I guess 😕 Putting it all back together is always a challenge though, even for us in the trade 😉

ParticipantNo,
It’s a complete s@d, and I’m a professional. You always need bearings, water seal and tank seal; any damage to the drum shaft and it must be replaced as well.I would suggest putting up your postcode and seeing if there is a local UKW engineer in your area.
If you’re going to have a look, pull the plug first.

ParticipantGo with separates if you can, a much better bet.
If you have to have a combi the basic rule these days is you WILL get what you pay for. Zanussi is perfectly adequate (despite your experience), Bosch is better and Meile is the bees knees.
Good luck,
