Anyone know the procedure to do a bearing job on one of these later type Zanussi machines? The tubs are plastic welded togeather in the middle. I had a look on connect to see if there is a complete assemble but it shows seperate front, back and inner drum which makes it totaly uneconomical to do.
    Thanks,
    Rob.

That’s because you’re not supposed to do it. 😉 The point is; they are not refusing to sell you the spares if you wish to proceed with a repair. The fact that you wouldn’t do it because it is outrageously expensive and amounts to daylight robbery is your problem……. :rolls:

    That’s it in a nutshell. Stinks, doesn’t it!! 😈

    Sorry!!

Maybe a stupid question but have you checked that this is definitely sealed tub? As I recall this model is normal split tub design…

(No more screws between the two shells, removal of the gasket and the cushions are shorter).

    SPARE PARTS
In case of replacement, order the quantity of the components listed in the table under the figure.

3484158906 which is now replaced by 3484158914 would be the welded tub assembly you need

Well thanks for your help on that one guys. It’s as I thought then! Not selling any more electrolux machines after this! Customer just been on the phone. New Bosch getting delivered from me tomorrow.
I kinda expect it from indesit and Hotpoint, but I thought Electrolux had a bit more about them!

Hate to point it out to you Jack , but there is an odd Bosch with a sealed tub now !!!

There are a few WAA style machines that have the dreaded sealed tub…around £85 + VAt for a new complete tub assy i believe

Already had a couple of sealed drum Bosch WAA’s with bearing failure, both just over 2 years old. 😥

Re: Zanussi ZWF1437S sealed tub bearing change?

£85 + vat is at least more affordable than £150 or so for a Zanussi.
Not that I’d be likely to advise a customer to spend even that much, unless they were just going to go out and get a new one with a sealed tub 👿 .

I agree, £85 +vat isnt too bad, but when you add labour, and for a tub swap it needs to be a worth wile labour charge – the machine is still bordering on becoming scrapage. I suppose this is where we have to bite the bullet and rip the old machines apart for their expencive spares like motor and PCB in preperation for a machine with an electrical fault. Looks like we will have to sadly begin to wave away the good old days when we did many WM and WMA bearing jobs and on other machines. The manufactures simply dont want to keep their machines going because they want to keep busy production which I can understand to a degree but the enviromental issues and bad and it’s unfair to the end user and us engineers. I suppose in some cases its reflected on the initial purchase price of the washing machine.

Yes, that seems to be the way to go. Keep the drum assembly from any machine scrapped for module failure and keep the modules from machines scrapped for bearing failure. I had a call from a little fish factory in Buckie this morning. They have an F13 error on their 4 month old Whirlpool and the warranty is null & void for commercial use. I said I would have a look but be prepared for the possibility that the machine may be BER.

£85 + Vat is £100. If that’s retail, and you get 10 or 15{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} off for trade, you’ve got room to do the job for £140/£150 and guarantee it for a year. Some of you guys would complete it in less than an hour; I’d probably take at least 90 mins. & two cups of tea. It’s more interesting than staying home and watching daytime TV. You keep the customer, it’s half the price of a new one. (And the new one would probably have had a welded tub too.) There’s a good chance the new tub will last longer than the two years the old one did (they were unlucky), may even go 5 years, so you’ll find yourself getting recommended from that corner.
    Mike.
