ParticipantMiele T284 drier. Nr:- 40/89936720. Mnr:- 06985010.
The drier starts as normal but no heat at all. It will run for about 4 minutes then beep continuously flashing 2 leds in the upright bank of lights. Leds 2 (machine iron) and 5 (cool air) flash simultaneously.
The heater looks fine, but the brushes on the sensor arm are worn right down and ‘jump’ over the connector plate for the drum paddle contact. Could this bad contact be the reason for the no heat and aborting fault? Not familiar with Miele driers, so any help appreciated!!Thanks,
Steve.

there is a thermostat above the heater is it ok?
the brushes need to make a good contact on the drum.October 25, 2010 at 3:47 pm #333825Seamy

Make sure you test it on timed drying rather than auto-dry setting.

Tried it on timed drying – still no heat. The safety cut out on the top of the element was set (not OC) and the heater looked perfect. The machine has a relay PCB and the control PCB; are these fallible? Are there any more thermostats or cut outs apart from the ones on the heater?
Thanks,
Steve.

I can’t remember if there is a stat in the front panel or if it’s a thermister but you have to take the front panel off to get to it.

Hi ive got one of these dryers doing this and the carbon brushes are well worn, not touching the drum much. What do the carbon brushes do? and did you get the problem sorted?

Carbons are for the automatic drying sensing.

The little PCB at the back corner is the heater relay board. I found a duff relay and swapped it out. All OK after that. Make sure you have checked the element and cut out first though.

Steve.
