Firstly thanks for a very informative and helpful site, kept this machine going with spares and help on several occasions.

I’ve read everything I can find on the forums related to this current machine/fault but still gor cold slightly soggy washing.

Machine serial number 301 293 068 Italian made 2003 (yes probably is time to be replaced).

Baically machine functions noramlly on washing cycles however there is no heat on the dryer cycles. So far checked and replaced the thermal fuse.
Had a spare heater element so replaced that – both read 43 Ohms. Cleaned the lint filter/trap. The drain pump is clear and drains ok. The dryer thermostat is open circuit, tried warming it and checking again – no difference. Tried shorting across the thermostat contacts – still no heat. I assume that this should be closed (conducting) when cold and open as heat rises?

From what I can gather there is a relay for the heater which may be at fault – but as yet haven’t located that or been able to test it.

There are no error codes displayed although the dial was clicking round on the dryer cycles prior to cleaning the lint filter.

The control module C00049373 – Indesit & Ariston Washing Machine Module is listed as being no longer available – so I guess if this is at fault it’s time for the tip.

    Any advice or help welcome.

There is no Ariston WD12, there is an Ariston AWD12UK

There is an Indesit WD12 which is basically the same machine.

The PCB number you have given is for a much older, basic mechanical timer controlled machine.

There is no thermostat in this machine, the heat is controlled by an NTC. It may appear to be O/C using a basic multimeter but it should be tested for resistance, not continuity. It should read approx 26kΩ at 20°C.

The heater relay is on the main PCB located at the back left hand side, down at the bottom.

The part number of the PCB is C00093158, cost around £95, you will however need a £12 smart card to programme a new PCB, also to use the card you will need a £90+ card reader. 😥

Faults with the NTC should always throw up an error message by flashing a combination of the lights on the front or by flashing the mains/doorlock light a set number of times as the dial clicks round. Most PCB faults will also give you error messages.

If you have tested all of the wiring connections between the main PCB and the element ( with the mains plug removed of course) then it does point to a PCB failure.

PS. The old style PCB,C00049373 is not obsolete. 😉

My mistake – or a faulty A key on the keyboard it is indeed a AWD12 UK.

Thanks for the help on location of the relay anyway.

Again my fault for refering to the dryer temperature sender (C00080767) as a thermostat.

Thought I had it fixed. Replaced the thermal fuse again – seems the first replacement went quite quickly. The fuse now in use is rated at 152°C is this too high.
Managed one full drying cycle now the machine is showing an error 13 flashes.

Any advice before I give in and chuck it?

Considering a LG F1403RD6 any comments?

F13 is either a fualty NTC or the fan is not working correctly.

As for the LG…No comment apart from the fact that I would not advise anyone to buy a washer/dryer, ever.
