After spending a day locked in a room with Ade 😯 thrashing through the gap analysis ,and Stephen and Barrie sorting out the membership list and certificates I want to propose the following .

Any WTA gathering council wise is held at Kilmarnock ,the reason being that we had internet access and access to everything WTA that we needed,Tracey was on hand to advise re membership and who had/hadnt paid etc .

Further to that there will be a WTA mtg once a quarter, the reasons being that as things progress with the COP ,and all the other add ons we will need to keep on top of things.
I will commit to being at everyone of these but there is no expectation that everyone else will be obliged to do the same .
These will always be on a Friday starting as early as possible to maximise the day ,and will have a job list /agenda set before hand.
I would fly up on the Thurs PM and leave Sat AM.

    Now the crunch
I also propose that we agree that for the whole of 2011 any travel and accommodation costs are paid by the individual member ,all food and hospitality comes from WTA funds my reasoning is that we will need the maximum amount of funds to progress the COP and the next meeting in Feb so we meet the funds half way .
We stayed at a very reasonable hotel and I wonder if we can negotiate a price for future ?

I can comfortably predict that with the goodwill that was generated at Coventry and other things in the pipeline , the WTA will be an effective force that will benefit all in the trade sole trader or otherwise, and with our sole aim being to facilitate the maximum benefit for the members through higher value work etc , I see any expenditure on my part as a long term investment in my business.

This is not meant to put people in an awkward position, but it is becoming obvious that we are slowly gathering a momentum that needs to be nurtured and in some ways controlled and to do that we need to do what I have described above .

The first meeting will be in January and will be a planning meeting for the Feb mtg ,Date to be confirmed

I hope I have explained myself if not just ask and I will elaborate

    Re: To boldly go…..

You’ve made some very good points there Lawrence.

The WTA might be going bigger and better than expected, so more time IS DEFO needed to make sure it rolls as per plans!

I have no objection paying for rooms and travel, food to be paid for by WTA? That as you say, minimises cost to WTA funds, and STOPS Ken paying for most, as he has done until now!

I’m in favour of securing the Fenwick everytime we meet, and in favour of paying room & travel for 2011.

Might I also suggest, that people unable to make these events, either agree to let desicions be made in their absence, or stand down? As the way this is going, we need man hours ASWELL as a financial commitment from the council to progress it through.

Apologies for the bluntness above, but IMO given the state of the trade as it is now, we need people to attend, chip in and pay… Rewards will be in the future!

Yep, I don’t see a problem with that. If we are going to have 4 meetings a year then that would be a drain on the WTA funds and I wouldn’t want the members thinking we are just having a jolly on their money.

I certainly think that a Council meeting before the main meetings is definately a good idea and this can be used for any other updates as well.

Who says I wanna put up with you lot once every three months? 😆

But from my point of view, no issue.

I do think that the WTA should clarify what is considered a reasonable and acceptable expense and what isn’t. I’d also suggest a policy for determining how “things” that aren’t covered in general policy are to be handled, i.e., who says yae or nae to an expense claim and a guideline for it.

Meet before going to bat at the “public” events, no issue.

    Fenwick, isn’t the Park nicer?

Commitment, personally I think that all involved have pretty much proven that they have a bit of that. Thing is, sh1t happens and people can’t make it… personal reasons, cat dies, business needs TLC… whatever… I don’t think that a “cast in stone” rule there would be helpful. Obligation or commitment to do it is enough methinks.

Let’s face it, you may all be total nutters but you’re neither completely stupid nor inclined to shirk.

    Leave it be I say.

Agenda in advance… damn fine idea. 😉

Drafting something now leave it with me

How do they compare price wise ?

The Park and Fenwick are pretty much the same cost wise. Not much, if anything, in it.

Really??? As per Lawrence then 🙂

I’d have thought the Park would be a fair bit dearer 😕

Stephen… What’s the worst thing that can happen? I mean it’s only a 6 hour drive (Up there)! 😆

By the way, I still chuckle to “Ooops….., no babe that was someone accidentally sneezing”! 😆 That was probably one of the funniest spur of the moment lines I’ve herd for years!

    Re: To boldly go…..

    Back to serious stuff…

So far we seem to be agreed on the general set up for WTA meetings for 2011? We pay our own travel & room, WTA can feed us lunch and evening meal at an average cost (i.e Pub grub)?

We just need input from Bryan, Steve (Aqua), Ian & Chris before we debate logistical / In house stuff further?

    Ade 🙂
