    How do

Me and She Who Must Be Obeyed are going through the motions of buying our first home together and we will need washer, dryer and dishwasher but obviously not a huge amount of cash to throw around.

As you can guess only having £750 for the three appliances is not all that good so we are stuck with the entry level kit and to make things more complicated it has to be a condensing dryer as we dont have a wall that we can vent through as the kitchen wall may end up being an internal wall at some point.

I have done some looking around and i think i have the right impression of certain brands below, would i be right?

    Haiter
-Stay the hell away from – just avoid

    Indesit
-Cheap but unknown quality (im assuming not brilliant) how easy it would be to repair when it breaks?

    Hotpoint
-Rebadged indesist or do they have uprated bits, i know apart from the odd spin issue the one my mum has seems a quiet running and reasonably built machine

    Beko
-Cheap machines but from what i have heard well built and one of the easier brands to repair, i know the Beko freezer my mum has is fine and so is the Beko fridge at work

Cheepie rebadge (AKA Bush, proline etc)
-For the love of god avoid

Im not quite sure what else is on the market in out price range – a quick walk around the local currys box shifer did not offer much more help

Idealy we would want the machines to match as they will be on view on the kitchen sat next to each other (and silver – SWMBO has specified this) however if we can get better machines then mixing makes/models is not a problem but the silver has to stay.

We know were not going to get the world but does anyone have any suggestions that will be reasonably well built and reasonably easy to repair

    Hi

You have answered your own question really with the research you have already done 😀 Beko products are generally quite reliable, should a repair be necessary spare parts are reasonably priced and readily available from most service engineers.

The washing machine could be the WM6123S, condenser dryer DRCS68 and the matching dishwasher in full size DWD5411S or in slimline 450mm wide the DE2542FWS.

Mixing brands will leave you with a mish mash of silver finishes, best to keep it to the same brand if they are going to be in a run.

Another consideration would be to go for the two most important appliances and trade up to a better brand like Bosch or Zanussi, however it would take you over budget,

I had thought about spending more on a washer and dishwasher that match but then get something like one of those compact (or full size) white knight dryers to either shove in the garage (but then my car gets covered in humidity and whatever lint gets through the filter) or see if it could be mounted in a cubpoard head height and just hang the vent hose out of a window as and when it is used

Can you mount a compact dryer in a cubpard like that as long as the cupboard door is left wide open when it is running

I know they are dirt cheap but they look to have been making the same dryer for years so im assuming they are a tried and tested design that most people know how to fix (or it can be fixed by kicking it – I am a yorkshireman afterall)

What about a Bosch Washerdryer – saving money and space
just looked at John Lewis and they have a mid range (Exxcel) model as the cheapest at £487 – great when shops muddle up like this and price the better model lower! 😀
Possibly its last years model but who cares it’ll be brand new to you!

use it for drying just occasionally and hang up washing to dry where possible outdoors / indoors.

Not sure about a dryer in a cupboard – you may keep the door open but others may not and it may overheat.

    Don’t know anything about dishwashers!

    Hi

White Knight produce a wall hanging compact inverted tumble dryer and as you say leaving the cupboard door open the machine should be well vented. They are a good all round brand at a reasonable price with good value for money spares should they be required in the future.

Take a read of this article before deciding to go down the washer dryer route. The only one that comes close to doing what is says it should is the Miele which will set you back a pretty penny to say the least so probably not for a Yorkshire man 😆

    Looks at price of Miele
    [yorkshire man]’Ow much?!?!?![/yorkshire man]

I have been doing further looking round and i found the following machines – http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/zanussi-zw … 9-pdt.html yes i know its currys but a £90 quid discount on the machines is not bad but are the zanussi’s really better than the Beko washer and dryer (yes i know they are white but if they are that much better then she who must be obeyed will have to accept white and then look at something like the Beko DWD4311W dishwasher, it pushes us over budget a tiny bit but is the zanussi washer and dryer a much better machine then the beko’s

Okay, I’e tried to resist it but I’m on a roll tonight…

£750 is enough to buy a decent washing machine.

£750 is NOT enough to buy a washer, dryer and a dishwasher and get anything even close to good.

Sure, you’ll get all three. But, you will likely be replacing at least one of them inside a couple of years depending on the use.

TBH some of the stuff you’re looking at in this thread is like comparing ways to commit suicide. It all ends in death, it’s only the level of pain incurred that differs.

Skip the dishwasher, use the sink… buy some rubber gloves and Fairy.

Dryer, buy a White Knight and hope it doesn’t break.

Spend on the washer and listen to the guys on here as, trust me, they really do know what they’re talking about even if, like me, they can be a bit abrasive at times.

the idea was just to get a cheap set to start me and the lass off as obviously cash is not abundant – that is why i asked what some of the males i looked at were easy to repair

what are gorenje like as a make http://thewashingmachineplace.co.uk/pro … {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}20Gorenje

we dont get the dishwasher in that package but we could alwasy pick one up second hand or get one later

Re: Washer, Dryer and dishwasher for £750?

Me and SWMBO did some more research and have pretty much decided on this washer dryer set – http://www.thewashingmachineplace.co.uk … oom{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}20Sets – GORENJE WA72145BK WASHER & D72325BK DRYER

from the poking about we did with the machines we found they were pretty well built but are they a good make (Yes she decided that she wanted a black instead of silver set)

Re: Washer, Dryer and dishwasher for £750?

    Hi

Those are from the premium range, slightly better build, enhanced features and a five year warranty. No problems with the washers and the condenser dryers are more reliable than some of the others out there.

Don’t get many problems to be fair but spares can be a little slow compared to some of the other brands.
