Hi,
my friend tried to unscrew the filter on a whirlpool 1404/4 but the white part with the finger grip has snapped off and the grey part behind, the main body of the filter, is jammed in. My guess is she overtightened it last time she screwed it back in.
There is a slight leak from around the filter and she wants me to get it out and clean it etc. but I’m afraid i’ll break it if I use pliers or someting to wrench it out.
Can anyone offer advice or tell me which part I need to order to replace it. I’d rather have a spare on hand when I start the job just in case I knacker it getting it out because whe can’t afford to be without a machine for long.
Cheers
JR
Probably a bra wire or similar in the filter, you need to remove the sump hose from the filter housing and see if you can fish whatever is jamming it out. Whirlpool filters are pretty shoddy so not uncommon for this to happen.
errm, how do I remove the “sump hose”? Do I have to take the back off?
I’m looking at a round hole in the front of the machine with a grey plastic “plug”/ filter stuck in it.
If I get my wrench I can probably twist it out but I’m worried it will break in the process.
Sorry if I’m being thick here.. 🙁
