ParticipantHi Folks,
Gee I am having some `messy` jobs recently, `messy` as in expensive possible mis-diagnosis 😕 . The above machine tries to spin immediately at full speed in both tumble and spin. I am assuming it is the speed module situated at the top of the machine on the cross beam. Everything else seems ok, heater insulation fine, reverse tumble action ok, motor tacho reads 16 ohms…is this usual as it seems low but may be ok for this motor, motor brushes ok. Does anyone have a module on the shelf they want rid of, new or s/hand. Info on module as follows: AKO544220, 3BSHG, 3061797AB6.
Thanks
Laurence

Laurence,
I’m 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain its the Module. However do check carefully the motor plug connections 😉 If the motor leads were securely ‘cable tied’ to the motor beforehand, then you can discount that possibility, I reckon.
In my experience Modules only go ‘belly up’ when the armature shows an insulation breakdown as usually they are extremely reliable and expensive to replace considering the age of the machine.
EMW may be able to check it out, and sorry, I checked my stock and I don’t have one I’m afraid 🙁
Double check the state of that motor I would, before leaping forth. 🙄

ParticipantThese can blow tracks when the brushes get down – flip it over and check. 9 out of 10 time the triac survives and you can get away with a bit of soldering.
I’ll have one stashed away somewhere if you get stuck.

Thanks for those great replies.
I have had the motor off and checked it out and it is very `tidy`, the brushes only about quarter worn as the machine apparently has not been used a lot. I have changed quite a number of end frames on these motors and understand the state they can get in. I have checked with EMW and they do not do Bosch modules. The motor plug loom was securely cable tied to the lugs prior to me removing it to test. All insulation resistance checks are very good. I have minutely checked the module for dry joints etc but all ok
If you do have a module Penguine could you let me know what you want for it and the P&P so I can inform my customer.
Once again thanks for your promp attention 🙂 .

The ‘Triac’ is available as a seperate part at around a tenner (Part No: 155272) so no need to shell out too much on a Module as a possible cheap get-out. Just take a chance and stick one in!! 😉
Never fitted one myself but that is the baby the tacho talks too 😉 and I have resoldered loads of blown Module tracks like Penguin has though after the motor has thrown a wobbly. 🙂

ParticipantThe triac is available from RS Spares. TIC226D is a suitable replacement, RS p/no 126-6289, 77p/1 + vat in 25’s. Will fit any number of other boards!
