ParticipantFirst time I went to this a week ago, I found nothing wrong. Just replaced fuse, meggered everything, quick check for fill & slosh and on my way.
Called back for same fault, customer now indicated point on dial and, after an initial test with megger, I set it off just before there and “pouf” and a spark came from soap disp release thing (door panel was off). Investigated, found the smoky brown plastic thingy, disconnected it, tested machine function OK and showed the bit to the customer. Explained new disp would be abt £40 and she said she’d try chucking the tablet in herself and see how it went.
BTW, also checked heater and circ. pump with megger. This one has an electromechanical timer so no electronics to worry about. Also no apparent burn marks on timer/wiring.Call came in next day, blown fuse again, exactly same point on timer. 😕
Going back again tomorrow for one last try. Any ideas would be welcome.
Oh, and yes I did insulate and tie up the disconnected wires .

The dispenser solenoid (166635) shorting out a very common fault. With electronic modules it almost always blows that up too. I suspect that the mechanical timer may also have shorted within as a result. 🙁

Thanks Martin. Didn’t realise you could get the actuator on its own. Think you’re probably right about the timer.

Went back today. Gave the whole thing another once-over, concentrating on timer. Could find nothing untoward. Decided the fault must be inside the timer so decided to take timer out, take it home and see if I could get it open and confirm my suspicions.
Carefully noted all wiring colours and disconnected timer and removed it.Just about to pack away my tools when noticed that the plug fuse wasn’t blown. Both it and the wall switch one had been blown on previous visit. Went to check wall switch fuse and you wouldn’t beliieeve what I found!
Some utter t!thead had put a five amp fuse in there! Can you believe that? I mean, these people! :innocent:
Re-installed timer and all now seems to be well.
Nothing to do with this of course, but thinking about getting some new reading glasses.
