Got to change the back half tub on one of these machines which I have never worked on before and have a couple of questions.

Are there any surprises/tips or tricks in doing this?

Does anyone have a service manual they could email to me?

Lastly, when the machine is on a tumble just before the spin I noticed that twice, during balancing the load, and when the motor was turning clockwise, that it seemed to stop dead as if the drum had siezed solid. The bearings are just at the point of going and are not causing this problem so is there a known fault with the direct drive motors that would cause this?

    Thanks

    John Hi

I am not technical on this machine so I cannot answer points 1 or 3. The Service Manual and Parts Listing is being emailed to you separately.

Hi John l thought that when l had that fault on these machines and my first thought was da direct drive but was informed by another engineer that the bearing will cause this quirky little fault, after changing back half da fault was gone but changing da back half was a pain up da wotsit it took mr approx two an half hours in da house Next time l think l will do in da workshop It comes apart quite easy but l still hate doing da job….

Not to bad to do John – top off, back off, disconnect motor heater etc, front off shocks off, soap dispenser disconnect and fold back out of way, top springs and out of front she comes. Split the tub after taking bits off back and reassemble. Good to have space around you tho.

    Re: LG WM1437BFD INFO REQ

    Thanks guys,

I did something today that i haven’t done for over 20 years, I took the machine into the workshop to repair. I normaly do all repairs in the house but this house had nice tiled floors and worst of all had a bloody great AGA which was giving out more heat than Sellafield.

I saw the oil stains on customers whites but if I did not know about the stains I would have said that the bearings were OK. Stripped it down and found what was left of a pair of tights wrapped round the shaft on the drum and a tiny amount of rusty water in between the bearings. When turning the inner bearing by hand it sounds perfectly normal but to hell with the expense I have ordered a back half from SEME which only costs £55+VAT. I can only assume that the seal is gone and want this one repaired and gone with no come backs…

I will say that I was quite surprised on the build quality of this machine, especially the harnesses and hoses which have no dangly bits anywhere to get caught and chaffed.

    John
