ParticipantHi,
I have a Bosch Classixx Diswasher, serial No SGS45C08GB/06. Last week the ‘Check Water’ light came on and the machine now wont drain.
I have since checked all the pipes for blockages/obstructions and all seem OK. I took the sides off and in the plastic matrix there was some gunk. After turning the machine upside down and running drain cleaner through it this cleared, but still the same problem remains.
The machine runs fine and fills with no problem, but every time stops and the ‘Check Water’ light comes on when it tries to drain. There is a faint clicking noise at the same time.
I am assuming now that this is a failure of a part of the drain system but I have no idea what.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Nick

ParticipantHave you actually checked the drain pump yet for obstructions/foreign objects ? No noise from the appliance when it is meant to be draining is a sign that the pump is either blocked or faulty . If you can hear the pump running but its still not emptying then you’re looking at a probable pipe/hose blockage .
There is a drain pump impellor access plate in the bottom of the tub , at approx the 9 o’clock position . This cover can be levered out ( it is in the instruction book ) and the impellor can be checked. Otherwise , you will need to lay the machine on its side or back – NEVER UPSIDE DOWN – and remove the metal base plate to access the drain pump itself . The pump is a twist fit and so is fairly easy to remove once you get to it. Check it for pieces of glass/broken crockery/bones .

Hi,
I had looked at the drain impellor at the bottom of the tub and that was clear. However, when I disconnected the drain pipe itself from underneath the machine I found the offending piece of glass which must have been stopping the pump from working.
The dishwasher has been working fine since!
Thank you for your advice, a small amount of my time has saved an expensive call out for an easy to fix problem 🙂

Thanks for all the tips. I took off the side of the machine but could not find any blockages. I then took off the outlet to the pump and found an elastic band which had wrapped itself around the impellor. I carefully removed the pump unwound/removed the elastic and re-assembled now all ok. Thanks for all the posts – saved me at least £100
