Hi does anyone know if there is certain way to take this out as I have twisted it anti clockwise and tried pulling it out like the old ones but the black piece that you hold to pull it out keeps coming off when i try to pull. I dont want to try too much force on it yet so any help greatly appreciated.

Optical water indicator (I think) AKA turbidity sensor

I find the best way is to twist it to the correct alignment then push it out from inside the sump.

Very hard to get it out in one piece so unless you know it to be faulty I would leave it in.

Cheers Steve yes that is what I am talking about its my first time coming across this type how does it work? The older ones were basically a pressure switch.Got it out yesterday exactly the way you said. The error code coming up is f04 there is a lot of muck in the filter and the sump would this be causing this.

I don’t know exactly how it works except that if it gets really clarted up it wont work.

I have a new one on the van which has been there since 2005 and if I aint used one in 5 years I probably never will.

If you’re sure thats the fault you can have it for beer money.
