    Hi,
    did bearings this afternoon.
Put it back together and everything works except no motor action. Changed the brushes although they weren’t too bad but still nothing. Checked all connections everywhere to no avail.
No flashing fault code just the lights on for each programme.
She used it Tuesday and it was working ok so I’m stumped here.
Going back tomorrow so any pointers are most welcome otherwise I’m a bit out of pocket.
    Thanks
    Rob

Have you checked the motor harness, ie metered all wires for continuity from plug to plug?

    Re: Hotpoint WF440

Doing bearings on a WT m/c yesterday, I noted how diabolically difficult it was to pull out the motor plug. That was an induction motor but I think the brush ones are quite tight too. Seems like it would be easy to cause a disconnection in one of the insulation displacement connections within the plug in wrenching it out.

I do remove the motor plug for brush changes etc, but never for a bearing change. I just un bolt the motor and leave it laid on the chassis without touching the wiring harness.

That’s wise but would be difficult for me because I like to lay the machine on its front, disconnect the pegs and springs, and then lift the cabinet away.

I take off the front panel, remove all accoutrement’s, take off lower back panel, release motor, sump hose and heater wiring. I then tilt the machine back against wall or cupboards to remove the pegs and then lift out the drum complete.

I unpluged, yes it was a pig, the motor when I removed it from the tub. I have checked continuity with the motor and the cable to the board.
I always lay the machine on the right side to remove the drum as it’s easier to get the springs out.
Thanks for the email Jim, it gives me a chance to check all the wiring and if it is all ok I’ll suspect the board.

I know this sounds stupid, but I’ve done it myself 😳 Is the motor plugged in correctly? I think these motors have an extra pin and the plug can be put back incorrectly ie one position to the right or left if you get what I mean.

Thanks for all the help but can anyone explain why, when I went back this morning before touching it I turned it on and the bu**er started spinning.
I was so relieved so will get a malt later and toast WF440. Nah I’ll curse them
