Hoover and possibly others are advertising machines as having ‘advanced brushless motors’

well I have a machine which is both 10yrs old and from a duff manufacturer (Servis M9303 washer dryer) but that has a brushless induction motor so whats the big deal?

    Re: Induction Motors

Washing machines made fifty or sixty years ago had ‘brushless’ induction motors.

In the past few years many manufacturers have introduced 3 phase brushless motors, a totally different animal altogether. 😉

    Same basic principle though Jim.

Kinda akin to claims made of a certain washer dryer methinks. 😉

The difference is the addition of an inverter card to use a DC motor which several manufacturers have been doing for a while. The ISE10 and ISE5-2 both have used these for some years so, in any event, it isn’t anything new really.

But some people will peddle any old line to get a sale. 😉

The LG direct drive machines have a brushless motor but also have the advantage that there’s no belt to break or fall off.

    thanks for answers guys

so does my machine have a single phase motor then? I assumed the little module/capacitor combo made a 3 phase supply for it from the domestic mains.

Motor is 512005704 (made in Romania, with the big pulley on the end driving a basic v belt)

Two phase – the capacitor is there to create a phase shift and the value of the cap determines the amount of current for the 2nd winding
