    Hi all

    Hope you can help.
    We have a Hotpoint Aquarius condenser drier, model CTD00P, reverse action.

    Originally the fault was on start up there was a loud squealing noise which gradually disappeared the longer the machine was on. Last night however there was a smell of burning, so the machine was unplugged.
    On inspection there seems to be a lot of black powder??? on the back of the machine.
    Before I go any further anybody any ideas

    Very common rear bearing and shaft failure.

    Not the easiest job to do TBH.

    Should you decide to take it on, THIS kit has all you need and more.

    Don’t forget to pull the mains plug out before you open it up.
