    Hi,

Went to a job the other week – Amica with melted plug. Tested supply and polarity to entire flat had been reversed, e.g. live to neutral, neutral to live.

Got them to call in a sparky before I went any further.

Went back today, supply is now okay but machine won’t switch on. 230V to PCB so I assume suppressor is all right but PCB knackered – is there anything else on the machines that tend to get damaged with reversed polarity?

I’ve tested the usual suspects with megger – heater, motor, door lock, but to be honest first time I’ve ever been to a job like this so not sure what else to expect – don’t want to blow a new PCB!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Thankfully, we don’t get too many that people the reverse the polarity on. In fact, not a one. 😉

    So, no idea.

The customer does know that it won’t be covered by warranty don’t they?

The whole flat had reversed polarity! Thought it must be a fault with my tester plug at first 😆

Landlord is paying and they are none-too-pleased, but to be honest serves them right for hiring such a shoddy electrician in the first place.
