My Indesit washer that I bought in 1998 has finally died!! I’m now looking around the internet to find a replacement. I have been reading through the posts on here and other sites and have been put off my original choice of getting a Hotpoint…

My problem is that I can’t afford to buy some of machines that are being the best. I only have a budget of around £300.

I live on my own, with the occasional end of term visit from my daughter who’s at uni. Most of my washes in my old machine were at 30 or 40 degrees, on number 4 which I think was synthetics!! I know I dont need an all singing all dancing washing machine. The only real “feature” I could do with is “quick wash” for when I need things in a hurry.

I have looked at a few bosch machines obviously at the lower end of their range.

WAE24366GB is the only one I can see with a quick wash.

Any advice would really be appreciated because I think my brain is going to explode with the amount of info I have read in the last few days!!

A good choice I think -a slightly older model is the WAE24165GB similar spec and
maybe a few pounds cheaper if you hunt around.
Buy online and through a cashback site like quidco and you should get under
    your target budget.
Bosch have the 2 year guarantee and as long as you avoid the much poorer quality
WAA machines then the WAE24366GBwith its led readout would get my vote.

thankyou for your reply. I found the model I listed for £320, which is a little bit more than I really have (I’m not working at the moment), but would rather get something that does the job and lasts than pay £100 less and then have the machine break down in 2 years time.

Will have a look around the internet for the other model later on today.

Do you think I was lucky with my old Indesit? From what I have read on here they don’t have a good reputation. Or were they better quality years ago?

Mine was a basic model even at the time compared to most. (1000 max spin, temp selection dial, programme selelct dial, rinse hold button, and spin speed button.)
It needed new bearings about 5/6 years ago, that only cost me £70 to get fixed including labour through a local independent, so including my original purchase price of around £180 and then the repair, I think I got my moneys worth out of it!!!
