we all get calls that never seem to end, but since I’ve been self employed I’ve never had one as bad as this.
A regular customer with a Hoover 8 + 5 washer dryer. Two adults, two kids and an elderly lady who is confined to bed through illness. Yep, I know but this customer has always had washer dryers with no problems :rolls: (not counting the 4 times a year I normally visit).
Original call of no heat on dryer…..each visit numbered.
1. The fan motor bearings are shot and the motor has little life in it. Cut out is tripped. Check other dryer components , all ok. Order motor.
2. Strip the fan housing to find that the cowling and condenser mount plate is worn right through although ‘It had never been noisy’ Clean out the swarf so they could use the dryer temporarily. Tests fine.
3. Return to find ‘it never heated up’. Check the cut outs all ok. Fit the cowling then find that the heater wiring was broken in the connector. Reterminate and it tests ok.
4. No heat again. Reset stat as I thought it could’ve gone when I turned the dryer off after testing, after all nothing else could possibly be faulty. (busy day and forgot to leave it running on airing)
😳
5. 👿 No heat again, reset stat. This time the dryer water valve is gone…..I’m starting to think it’s a Beadle job.
6. 😈 😈 😈 No heat again. Reset stat. This time the bl***y thermistor connector is busted in the insulation.
This was all within a two week period. I’m thinking if they call again to buy them a vented dryer it’ll probably work out cheaper for me in the long run 😉
