ParticipantDishwasher Zanussi DES959, Ser no 00240038
Hi
I have the above dishwasher that will not empty.
It works fine except for the pump out parts of the cycle.
When emptying it pumps water around in side as if washing/rinsing.
The drainage pipe work is clear as if the waste pipe is lowered to the floor the water drains out.
I imagine a valve switches over to allow wastewater to pumped out, this is not happening, it just continues to pump the water around internally. At the end of the cycle it remains full.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
I am competent to work on this equipment having been a service engineer for many years.
Thanks
Lester

Without having the relevent info here at home, it looks like it’s one of the single circulation/drain pump dishwashers.
If it is, it’s not an uncommon occurance for the pump/motor to do odd things like that.
Assuming you’ve checked all possible blockages and air locks, a replacement pump would seem the answer.
I’ll get back tommorow with more details for you.
Dave.

i also beleive this has a single circ motor/drain pump. basically it’s one motor with twin impellers and rotates one way to circulate the water and reverses to drain. its quite common for the teeth on the drain impeller to get broken off by something hard passing thru. quick and simple to check, remove the motor and examine the impeller. the drain impeller is the one closest to the motor body and can be viewed thru the exit channel of the impeller body between the 2nd and 3rd seal. no teeth, no drain! i also beleive you can get the impeller as a seperate part no instead of buying the complete motor, but i havent got that info to hand.

Yes it is the single pump type, and as mentioned by Nemo, you can obtain the impellor assembly as a seperate part.
Details for you:
Complete pump assembly – 152 24 88-61/6 £86.48
Impellor assembly – 152 24 88-71/5 £17.58
Those prices inc VAT, postage if required would be about £5

Thank you both for your very rapid response, I’ll check out the impeller later.

ParticipantHi
Exactly as you predicted all the blades were missing from the impeller.
Beats me how something managed to get in there since the water passes through filters, any way problem solved and thanks again.
